Garden Hose Length Planner

Measure the actual path to the farthest point, add working slack and choose a practical standard length instead of buying unnecessary hose.

How to measure

Follow the route the hose will take from the tap, around obstacles and to the farthest regular task. Do not measure a straight diagonal through a shed, hedge or vehicle. Add a little slack so you are not pulling hard on the tap fitting.

Why shorter can be better

Every extra foot or metre adds weight, storage bulk and flow resistance. A hose that just comfortably reaches can be easier to live with than the longest product on the shelf.

Use judgment around standard sizes

The suggested common size is only a convenience. Standard hose lengths vary by country and manufacturer. If the calculated need lands just above a common size, re-check whether your route measurement already included generous slack.

This page provides general consumer information. Product construction, water pressure, climate and local rules vary. Verify manufacturer specifications for the exact hose you are considering.
